How’s is going Hartford County!? Today is Tuesday, January 27th. Am I the only one who stepped outside thinking it’d be a quick shovel-and-go situation… and then got humbled immediately? I look over and my car isn’t just “snowed in” like some quaint Hallmark situation, it’s fully entombed under three feet of snow thanks to the plows doing that classic move where they dump the entire street directly into your parking spot. So I’m out there for 30 minutes shoveling like it’s my full-time job, then doing the windshield-and-roof cleanup routine that somehow turns into an upper body workout. The best part is finally firing it up and realizing the only thing between me and freedom is a crunchy snow berm the size of a small mailbox. But shoutout to 4WD, because once I had a tiny runway, I powered through and made the great escape, Steve McQueen style. Those of you without a garage, how’d you fare?

UPDATE

The poll results from last week weren’t even close… over 96% of you said YES!

So here’s the move: we’re dropping a separate monthly email on the last Thursday of every month with the next month’s top 15-20 events so you can actually plan ahead like a responsible adult (or at least pretend to). Stay tuned.

BUZZ & TELL

🐶Adopt-a-pal: Meet Alejandro, a spicy 10-lb Chihuahua with “pick one person and worship them forever” energy, aka your future blanket-burrowing soulmate with a little chaos sprinkled in.

🏡House of the week: This Avon Colonial is the “move in and start living” kind of house, with a bright updated kitchen, dramatic two-story great room, cozy gas-fireplace family room, and a finished lower-level hangout space on a quiet cul-de-sac by open space. Have a look!

🥾Indoor gem of the week: Living Inside Exhibit at the Windsor Art Center is the kind of indoor reset that sticks with you, powerful artwork from Connecticut’s Prison Arts Program that turns four walls into something way bigger. Learn More.

🔭Sky report: Catch Venus + Mercury doing a rare little sunset buddy-up low in the west on Wed (1/28) and Thu (1/29) (binoculars make it pop). Then Sun (2/1) brings the Full Snow Moon, lighting up the night like Connecticut just turned on the big overhead light.

3RD DINNER CLUB

🎉Connecticut Buzz Dinner Club is back for installment #3 on Thursday, Feb 19 at 6pm in Glastonbury and if your calendar’s been looking a little too “couch + doomscroll,” consider this your sign.

We’ll match you with five other locals who actually fit your vibe (interests, food prefs, personality, all of it), then text you the mystery restaurant that morning so it still feels like a mini adventure. Just show up hungry.

Halfway through, we drop the mystery after-spot where all the tables link up and the night turns into one big “wait…this is hilarious” hang.

$16 bucks locks your seat and covers the matching, booking, planning, and all the behind-the-scenes work so you can skip the annoying group text dance and just go have a night.

👉 Take the quiz, grab your spot, and let’s make a random Thursday feel like a win. 👇Reserve your seat now

BUZZ BULLETIN

Got a grand opening, a big event, a hiring push, or a local service you’re trying to get on people’s radar? Throw it in Hart Co Buzz and we’ll put it in front of thousands of locals who don’t just scroll, they actually go.

CONN-OPOLY: Take a trip through Connecticut history while you play, win, and actually learn something new. Perfect for cold-weather game nights when you’re not leaving the house. Grab one now.

WADSWORTH ATHENEUM: Learn something new on Feb 1st from 1-2PM during a curator talk that covers arts & crafts in the American Colonies and early US. This is like real life time travel, but with furniture, objects, and the kind of details that make you go “wait, that’s actually cool.” Meet outside the Museum Shop and let someone else be the historian. Learn More.

WORD SCRAMBLE: Answer at the bottom of newsletter.

BUZZWORTHY ACTIVITIES🐝

The Winter Touch-Grass Tour - If you’ve been hibernating hard, this is your redemption arc. Sunday (2/1) at 1PM, slide over to Glastonbury for the Annual Snowshoe Hike, meeting at Earle Park (1325 Main St) for a scenic winter wander that counts as cardio even if you pretend it doesn’t.

Go big with the views on Sunday (2/1) from 11AM-1:30PM for the Community Hike: Heublein Tower Trail in Simsbury, starting at Summit Ridge Dr (1 Summit Ridge Dr) and ending with a snack hang near the summit pavilions.
