What’s good, Hartford County!? Today’s August 19th, National Aviation Day - aka the perfect excuse to nerd out on how we went from two brothers with a wooden glider to flying Wi-Fi tubes that get you from LA to Tokyo in under 12 hours. FDR started this holiday back in 1939 to honor Orville Wright’s birthday (dude literally invented flight, kind of a big deal). Now? We’ve got private jets, flying taxis in beta, and billionaires casually breaking the stratosphere for fun. Aviation isn’t just planes; it’s logistics, warfare, luxury, and the backbone of globalization. So yeah, maybe pour one out for the Wright bros today. Or better yet, Google “Concorde comeback” and see where the next century of sky travel’s headed.

🚨CONN-OPOLY UPDATE🚨

We’re tightening the screws on the final design after shuffling a few spaces. The fun twist? We’re dropping in the original names of famous Connecticut universities. Think “Collegiate School (Yale),” “Connecticut Agricultural College (UCONN),” and “Washington College (Trinity College).”

It’s history nerd candy and it looks 🔥 on the board. Take a glimpse below👇

HART CO TRIVIA🤔

BUZZ BULLETIN

Got news, a gig, or a gem to shout from the rooftops?
Whether it’s a grand opening, killer event, hiring help, or just a cool thing your neighbors should see - The Buzz Bulletin is your megaphone!

PorchFest 2025: Old Wethersfield’s annual “shut-the-street, crank-the-music” day party, and it’s the buzzworthy event this week for a reason. On Saturday, Aug 23, Main Street closes 9am-5pm so you can porch-hop through 35 bands/musicians and 100+ vendors without dodging cars. Just grab coffee, follow the guitars, and let the afternoon disappear. Park at Hanmer School, Cove Park, or the DMV (accessible parking at First Church), then wander through the mile of tunes, snacks, and neighbors you’ll pretend you “just ran into.” Hosted by the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers - aka the folks who know how to throw a community block party.
